Over a long Veteran’s Day weekend in November, friends and family gathered to bring in the olive harvest at Condor’s Hope. Following a centuries old tradition, folks were ready to return and touch the earth and be with others in community. From ages 3 to 80, this multi-generational group of harvesters clustered around the olive trees, hand-picking and raking the olives and telling stories old and new. Please share in the fun with these photos.
The olives were ready ripe and plump Steve and Robbie welcomed all to join us in the harvest. Our Family members New friends and old friends Mothers and daughters Multi-generation Families were welcomed. As we gathered around the trees to bring in the harvest. Harvesters could be found on the ground in the middle And some on the top All worked hard to bring it all in. The kids played, problem solved Just how many olives are in a pound? and wrote harvest stories too! We all celebrated the harvest with Chef Brendan’s amazing food Paula’s delicious vegan desserts. Around the campfire Dancing to Paul & Emily’s music We took the olives to the mill Where they were washed and mashed into 56 gallons of golden oil Tasted with pure joy! To the many hands we say a BIG THANK YOU!!
